Equity vs Equality
“Equity and Equality” are two popular buzzwords used in conversations around diversity and inclusion.
Despite global awareness, gender equity and quality remain a persistent challenge and one of the U.N. Sustainable Development Goals. According to the World Economic Forum’s Global Gender Gap Report 2021, the time it will take to close the gender gap grew by 36 years in just 12 months due to the COVID-19 pandemic. This means it will now take an estimated 135.6 years to close the gender gap between men and women worldwide. At the current pace, it will take 121.7 years to close the gap in Sub-Saharan Africa.
In this panel discussion, I had the opportunity to discuss the role of equality and equity in building a world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination… a diverse and inclusive world.
The ultimate goal is to use this webinar to impart knowledge and create more social consciousness.
