  1. Timing: Be strategic about your performance appraisals by creating your own optimal timeline rather than relying on the HR timeline. 

  2. Outcomes: Keep an up to date record of the value you have adding throughout the year - WHAT you have done and HOW you have done it

  3. Preparation: Prepare to toot your own horn. Do not assume that your manager knows all the great work you have done

  4. Target: Set your expectations and legitimize your ask. If you don't ask, you won't get
